Tube driver salary: Despite new technology that makes their jobs easier, some London Tube drivers now earn over £100,000 per year. The highest paid driver earned £103,374 in the year to November shows figures from the Sunday Times, a rise of 69 percent since 2012. Despite the fact that five of the 11 lines on the network are automatic, the pay surge only requires drivers to open and close doors. Furthermore, 9 drivers paid more than £100,000 and another 30 earned more than £80,000.
According to the figures obtained by the Transport for London (TfL) via an information free application.
Conservative mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey criticised Sadiq Khan for payments, adding that he should do his utmost to plug a financial hole and protect public money in a dire situation of TfL finances.
The average Tube driver’s base pay is £55,011 while night tube drivers earn approximately half as the position is part-time. Practitioners earn £32,375 during training, which lasts from 12 to 16 weeks.
