Following the loss of her Big Love co-star Bill Paxton on Saturday, Ginnifer Goodwin was on the verge of skipping Sunday’s Academy Awards presentation in Los Angeles.
In an interview with People magazine at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, the devastated 38-year-old admitted that it was difficult to come here since it felt wrong to celebrate anything.
‘However, [my husband] Josh [Dallas] reminded me that Bill was a massive fan of everything related to Hollywood history, and he would have been upset with me if I hadn’t come out sooner. We can presume that if he is not present in spirit tonight – since, ideally, he is with his family, whom he cherished above all else – the second place he would be at the Academy Awards.
‘Bill was a total sweetheart,’ the Zootopia actress continued. He was the world’s most talented storyteller. He could always be counted on to make you smile or chuckle… He was the most encouraging of my friends. He was a complete hoot. ‘He was always thinking outside the box.’
The four-time Golden Globe nominee,
who was most known for his roles in Aliens, Apollo 13, and Titanic, died at the age of 61 after suffering a post-surgical stroke after having heart surgery.

The grieving 38-year-old told People at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre: ‘It was tough to come here; it was improper to be here and celebrate anything.’
Josh [Dallas], my husband, told me that Bill was well-versed in Hollywood and that he would have been upset if I hadn’t come out. As he stated, the Oscars will be his next stop if he can’t be with his family, whom he values beyond all else.
The Zootopia star said, ‘Bill was all love.’ He was the best storyteller in the world. You could always count on him to make you laugh no matter what was going on… He was the kind of pal who would always jump in to help out if you needed it. He was a total riot. It seemed as if he was always coming up with new ideas.
Sixty-one years old, he passed away after a stroke following heart surgery. He was nominated for four Golden Globes and was most recognized for his appearances in Aliens, Apollo 13, and Titanic.
Big Love’s third wife,
played by Goodwin, has appeared on the HBO show for five seasons (2006-2011).
It was odd that there was so little tension for a play with such an intricate concept. ‘If we could have done it forty years ago, we would have done so.
Last seen in The Circle, which opens nationwide on April 28, Paxton’s final cinematic role was as the title character.
Bill plays Detective Frank Roarke in the CBS series Training Day, based on the 2001 film of the same name.
It’s been a year since the birth of their two kids, Oliver, 2, and Hugo, eight months, so Ginnifer and Josh will mark their third wedding anniversary on April 12.
In the upcoming sixth season of Once Upon a Time, which premieres on Sunday on ABC, the two actors will return to their roles as Mary Margaret Blanchard and Snow White, respectively.
