Kyle Rittenhouse Judge Asian Food Joke: As a result of making an off-handed remark about Asian cuisine in the courtroom on Thursday, the judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial has received negative feedback.
“I’m hoping the Asian food isn’t on its way… While taking a break for lunch, Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder said that he was not aboard one of the vessels at Long Beach Harbor.”
The remark, which looked to be a reference to the supply chain bottleneck that has been affecting California ports and has left boats lying idle for days while waiting to come ashore, left some in the Asian community with a nasty taste in their mouth.
AJC executive director John Yang, who represents an organization committed to improving civil and human rights for Asian Americans, called the statement “absolutely not good.” AJC is an organization dedicated to advancing civil and human rights for Asian Americans.
In response to a remark about “Asian cuisine” that some found offensive, the judge presiding over Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial has come under fire.
“I’m hoping the Asian food isn’t coming,” Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder stated as the courtroom was called to a halt for lunch on Thursday (Nov. 11). “I’m not on one of those boats in Long Beach Harbor,” he said, implying that he was alluding to supply chain problems that have left ships off the California coast stranded for days.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC executive director John C. Yang responded to the incident on Twitter with the phrase “Perhaps I’m meant to congratulate him for not saying ‘Oriental cuisine.'” As a joke at the cost of Asians/Asian Americans, this statement can only be taken seriously. Not only that, but it happened during a trial that plainly had racial undertones. “This is definitely not acceptable.”
“The Asian joke, cheering for a defence witness, Trump’s rally music playing on his mobile phone throughout the trial are just a few examples of the things he’s done,” the author writes. “Schroeder should be removed from his position and prevented from practising law,” another individual said.
His judicial procedures include prohibiting the usage of the term “victims” on a frequent basis. However, his decision to allow the same persons to be referred to as “rioters, looters, and arsonists” marked the beginning of a trend in which Rittenhouse’s detractors decried the court as biassed and Rittenhouse’s supporters applauded the judge’s choices.
Despite the mounting chorus of criticism directed at the judge throughout the trial, Kyle Rittenhouse’s mother claimed on Thursday that she believed the judge was “quite fair.”
Wendy Rittenhouse told Sean Hannity of the FOX News Channel that she had been warned by locals that “he doesn’t accept no foolishness in his courtroom,” according to Wendy.
