Kamala Harris Christmas Presents: Despite the fact that Kamala Harris made what was described as a significant foreign policy address in Singapore, she omitted to mention Afghanistan. Instead, at a roundtable discussion with business executives, she brought up climate change and the threat that the pandemic poses to the on-time delivery of Christmas gifts.
Following her address, she did answer questions about Afghanistan, but the fact that she avoided the most pressing topic of the day was highlighted. The trip, according to Harris’s staff, was intended to highlight the significance that the Biden administration puts on the Middle East and North Africa.
If you want Christmas presents for your children, you should start getting them now, according to the tales that are now being reported, said Vice President of the United States Joe Biden. “The wait might be many, many months,” he said, referring to the things that are currently being reported.
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician and attorney who is the 49th and current Vice President of the United States. She was born in New York City and raised in California. Besides becoming the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female politician in United States history, she is also the first African-American and the first Asian-American to hold the position of vice president.
In addition to serving as California’s attorney general from 2011 to 2017, she was also a member of the Democratic Party and a United States senator representing the state from 2017 to 2021. Harris was appointed vice president at the time of President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021, following her victory against the current president, Donald Trump, and vice president, Mike Pence, in the 2020 presidential election.
California native Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California Hastings College of the Law before settling in New York City. In the beginning of her career, she worked for the District Attorney’s Office of Alameda County, before being recruited to the District Attorney’s Office of San Francisco, and then to the Office of the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected to the position of district attorney for the city of San Francisco. Her first term as Attorney General of California ended in 2010, and she was re-elected to a second term in 2014.
From 2017 to 2021, Harris served as California’s junior United States senator, a position she held until her retirement. At the 2016 Senate election, Harris beat incumbent Loretta Sanchez to become America’s second African-American woman and the country’s first South Asian-American to serve in the United States Senate.
As a senator, she fought for healthcare reform, de-scheduling of cannabis by the federal government, a road to citizenship for illegal immigrants, the DREAM Act, a prohibition on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform, among other causes. While testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she earned national attention for her sharp questioning of Trump administration officials, notably Trump’s second Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault.
Harris was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, but she withdrew from the campaign before the primaries were held. Biden chose her to be his running partner in August 2020, and the duo went on to win the general election in November with their combined votes. Her term as Vice President of the United States began on January 20, 2021, and she will serve until January 20, 2022.
