This film describes the revolutionary discovery of paintings of the Altamira cave in Cantabria, Spain, and, subsequently, controversies among the leading religious and science personalities of the day. It is Hudson’s first film of fiction since I had dreamed of Africa in 2000.

Hugh Hudson’s guided Altamira makes little sense in the little of the wow factor, where events that played a role in the great technological revolution of Darwin are reduced to the nice but imaginative drama of a time in which everything takes place.
