Fenty Perfume Review: To be really honest, I assumed that the next step of the Fenty expansion would be hair, and I believe that is indeed in the works (I know nothing Rihanna do not sue me.) Fenty’s enigmatic new product, Fenty Shampoo, caught my eye, and I exclaimed, “Yeah, Fenty Shampoo!”
Afterward, I discovered that it was a perfume. I was overjoyed and apprehensive at the same time.
Rihanna has, of course, previously released fragrances. Reb’l Fleur, her debut fragrance, was introduced in 2010, and it was quickly followed by a few flankers, and subsequently additional scents such as Riri and Rogue. They were all pleasant, but they all fell clearly into the category of what we now refer to as “celebrity scents.” There is no shade.
As a result of the debut of Fenty Eau De Parfum, we have been exposed to the next generation of Rihanna’s perfumes, which are not part of the Fenty Beauty line but rather part of the greater Fenty brand. If nothing else, this serves as a more general hint of what is to come. Fenty’s career is really just getting begun.
Rihanna was inspired to launch Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in the beauty industry—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones. Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin is a beauty brand owned by Rihanna and her husband, rapper Drake.
The Fenty Beauty makeup line was launched in September 2017 with the foundation, face primer, and Gloss Bomb, with the goal of including “people from all walks of life.” The line includes foundations for a wide range of traditionally difficult-to-match skin tones, formulas for all skin types, and universal shades that can be found in one place.
Everything from the groundbreaking Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation, Hydrating Foundation, and Powder Foundation, which revolutionized the makeup industry with 50 inclusive shades, to the best-selling concealer and setting powder, to the extensive shade range of cream blush, Fenty Beauty products are designed to be lightweight and to be worn layered.
Most importantly, Rihanna creates makeup to motivate and inspire women everywhere: According to her, makeup is there for you to have a good time with. “There should never be any sense of pressure.”
It should never feel like you are wearing a uniform. “Do not be afraid to take chances and risks, as well as to try something new or unusual.” Are you unsure about where to begin? After making a name for herself in the beauty industry, she sought to take over the skincare industry. Initially releasing cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, she founded Fenty Skin with the mission to “make fantastic products that genuinely work, that are easy to use, and that everybody can get their hands on.”
Does Fenty eau de parfum smell good?
TikTok and other social media platforms allowed those who weren’t able to get their hands on the highly anticipated scent to learn more about it through videos made by influencers that displayed their immediate responses to unpacking the fragrance, as well as their honest impressions. Contrary to expectations, it received mostly positive feedback.
The aroma was well received by many, who said it was exactly what they anticipated the 33-year-old actress to smell like. Others, however, we’re surprised that the fragrance was not more rebellious and “head-turning.”
Celebrity scent is a notoriously tough product to perfect in the cosmetic world, and it is no exception. Those of us who grew up in the early 2000s will remember the plethora of nauseatingly sweet smells that the pop princesses appeared to have lent their names to, some of which were more successful than others. Rihanna, on the other hand, has never been one to conform to the current quo, and this is evident in Fenty’s Eau de Parfum.
Starting with the fact that nothing about this perfume is anticipated or traditional, it is a breath of fresh air. At the same time, it’s soft and romantic, warm and familiar; it’s sweet and uplifting; it’s spicy and seductive, and it’s absolutely genderless. It reveals a degree of complexity that is so seldom found in celebrity-endorsed items, and it’s fully genderless.
While wearing Fenty Eau de Parfum, Rihanna manages to convey every aspect of her personality while never letting her own persona become the focal point of the fragrance. She may have invented the fragrance, but when I spritz it on the inside of my wrists, I don’t think to myself, “I smell like Rihanna.” It has a subtler and more personal feel to it than that, which is to say it feels more like me.
What does the Fenty perfume smell like?
I just learned that I am one of those persons who does not always detect the scent of perfume on their own skin. Initially, I was concerned that this scent wouldn’t stay long, but the remarks I’ve received while wearing it have confirmed that it does really smell fantastic.
In order to get the most out of the scent, Rihanna and her crew advised spraying it right into the chest (and they’re not wrong). It goes without saying that you should apply it to your pulse spots (wrists, behind elbows, behind knees, lower throat, and behind ears) the same way you would any other perfume.
As a result of Rihanna’s extensive experience in the fashion and design industries (she’s previously worked on collections for Puma as well as her own LVMH-backed label), it should come as no surprise that she put an excessive level of care to the packaging of the perfume.
According to Belletrud, at their most recent meeting in London, she spent more than an hour and a half evaluating the more than 100 perfume bottle ideas that the team had brought to the table. It was only after much deliberation that she settled on a stunning simple amber-brown glass bottle with a transparent lid that she claims fits exactly in the palm of her hand.
When it comes to scents, I’m not the easiest person to please, but Rihanna has done it again with this one, as she usually does. It’s natural for me to scan over scent notes and critique them, thinking things like, “It has a base note of leather, which isn’t my style.” Upon first glance, Fenty’s Eau de Parfum appears to be a mishmash of elements that don’t seem to belong together.
Floral rose and geranium are combined with zesty orange and sweet coconut to create a harmonious fragrance. There’s musk, incense, and blueberries in this fragrance. In addition, none of these are classified according to the traditional top note, heart note, and base note structure.
