Dave Chappelle Hannah Gadsby: In his third week of defending his Netflix special, The Closer, on which he rehashed the same old anti-trans prejudice he’s been selling for years, comedian Dave Chappelle has gained a friend in Fox News and started providing parameters for peace agreements that the “transgender community” did not want.

After trans-Netflix employees who refused to chuckle at his satirical rant were fired, Chappelle responded on Instagram by “jokingly” offering to meet with those who have lost their jobs as a result of publicly finding him unfunny. He also claimed that comedian Hannah Gadsby is in fact the one who isn’t funny.

Dave Chappelle, in responding to criticism over his most recent stand-up special, seems to have sparked yet another round of controversy.

Following a performance in Nashville on Sunday, Chappelle replied to criticism he had gotten for jokes he made about transgender individuals during his Netflix special “The Closer.” The videos were shared to his verified Instagram account on Monday.

Chappelle said that he is happy to meet with members of the LGBTQ community, but that he would not “bow to the demands of anybody.” He also made light of the fact that one of the requirements for such a meeting is that “you must accept that Hannah Gadsby is not humorous.”

The fans of Gadsby, an Australian comedian who has been vociferous in her condemnation of the Chappelle scandal, were not pleased with the outcome of the debate.

Several of them rushed to social media to express their support for Gadsby and her kind of comedic storytelling.

A fellow comedian responded on Twitter. Taking to Twitter, Sean Kent said that it was “[completely] needless” to take a jab at Hannah Gadsby and “sick his online trolls on her.”

Gillian Gadsby had previously addressed Netflix co-chief executive officer Ted Sarandos — who has backed Chappelle and his show despite criticism from some workers and fans — citing her as an example of the various artists presented on the streaming site, which is owned by Netflix.

“Hey there, Ted Sarandos!” Just wanted to drop you a brief email to let you know that I would prefer it if you didn’t bring my name up in your squabble,” Gadsby said in a note on her verified Instagram account.
